Restaurant Recovery Program

Overview

Restaurants and dining out are a vital part of the community, which everyone looks forward to returning to safely as part of the COVID-19 pandemic recovery.

At its Regular meeting on June 8, 2020, the City Council adopted an urgency ordinance enacting a temporary Restaurant Recovery Program to help local restaurants recover from the impacts of the pandemic. The ordinance allows local restaurants to get a permit to temporarily expand seating areas to adjacent common areas or sidewalks, while ensuring that physical distancing and other public health protocols are in place to control the spread of COVID-19.

Program Measures

Restaurants will be able to expand their existing seating into additional areas while meeting County health orders; however, no increase in the number of seats is available under the program. Restaurants will need to submit a Temporary Restaurant Recovery Program Permit Application to the City, at no charge.

SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION

Download and complete the Temporary Restaurant Recovery Program Permit Application. with all required signatures. Submit the application, including all items listed on the submittal checklist, by email to mplanning@malibucity.org. There is no charge associated with the application.
