Sandbags are available to Malibu residents at local Los Angeles County Fire Stations, while supplies last. Residents, with valid ID, may bag up to 25 sandbags per household. Sandbags, sand, and shovels will be provided. Sandbags may also be available at Zuma Beach, while supplies last.
Use or distribution of plastic or plastic-based sandbags are banned in the City of Malibu. Although the ban was temporarily lifted during the storms that hit Malibu shortly after the Woolsey Fire, the ban was reinstated effective March 1, 2019. (View the News Release about the plastic sandbag ban reinstatement.) Residents can dispose of plastic sandbags and sand at the City’s lot on PCH at Heathercliff (former Christmas tree lot).
