The public can now view real-time video of traffic conditions on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu on the Caltrans website thanks to a series of CCTV cameras that are now online as part of the City's PCH Signal Synchronization Project. The cameras give traffic operators live visibility into conditions on PCH, helping them quickly identify crashes, stalled vehicles, congestion, or other hazards and coordinate faster emergency response. The live video also supports active traffic management. By visually confirming traffic flow, operators can fine-tune signal timing in real time to reduce stop-and-go conditions, manage speeds, and improve overall movement along the corridor. This added layer of monitoring plays an important role in improving safety for motorists, pedestrians, cyclists, and first responders. The PCH Signal Synchronization Project, the most significant project to improve traffic safety and mobility on PCH to date by the City of Malibu. Completed in December 2024, the $19.1 million project connected 12 traffic signals between Topanga Canyon Boulevard and John Tyler Drive into a coordinated “Smart Corridor.” The system allows Caltrans’ Traffic Management Center to make real-time signal adjustments to improve traffic flow and reduce speeds. This project is a key component of Malibu’s broader, multi-layered effort to improve safety on one of the state's busiest iconic highways through close coordination with Caltrans, law enforcement and other regional partners. The project was named the 2025 Project of the Year in Transportation by the American Public Works Association Ventura County Chapter.CLICK HERE to watch the live traffic conditions video feed.CLICK HERE to learn more about the PCH Signal Synchronization Project.

Applications Open Now Through March 31 for City of Malibu General Fund Grant Program
Applications Open Now Through March 31 for City of Malibu General Fund Grant Program
The City of Malibu is now accepting applications for the 2026–2027 General Fund Grant Program, which provides funding to local nonprofit organizations that serve and benefit Malibu residents. Nonprofits based in the City of Malibu are encouraged to submit applications by 5:30 PM on Tuesday, March 31, 2026.
This program supports essential community services, strengthens local organizations, and helps nonprofits expand programs that improve quality of life for Malibu residents. Grant funding can help organizations sustain operations, reach more residents, and deliver meaningful services tailored to community needs.
To make the process easier and more accessible, this year’s application is completed through a single, consolidated online form rather than a PDF. Financial reporting requirements have also been streamlined, reducing administrative burden and allowing applicants to focus more on their mission and services.
Applications will be reviewed by the City Council’s Administration and Finance Subcommittee in May, with final awards considered by the City Council during budget adoption in June. Grant funds are expected to be released in July.
