Malibu Senior Center Hosts AARP Smart Driver Program in September
Participants could be eligible for car insurance discounts
(Malibu, CA) The Malibu Senior Center will sponsor an AARP Smart Driver Program this September for older drivers to tune up their driving skills and update their knowledge of the rules of the road.
The Smart Driver Program will be offered on Thursday and Friday, September 25-26, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Both classes must be completed to obtain the class certificate.
Participants will learn about current rules of the road and how to operate vehicles more safely in today’s increasingly challenging driving environment. Instructors will offer advice about adjustments senior drivers should make for common age-related changes in vision, hearing, and reaction time.
For those who have taken and graduated from the 8-hour course within the last three years, a Refresher Course will be offered to review driving skills and techniques. The refresher class will be held on Friday, September 19, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
The cost for either the Smart Driver Program or the Refresher Course is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members. Auto insurance discounts may apply for AARP graduates (participants should check with their insurance provider).
