Doug Stewart was elected to the Malibu City Council in the 2022 General Municipal Elections. His term will expire in November 2026. Stewart served as Vice Chair of the Public Safety Commission from 2019 to 2022. He has been a member of the Malibu Community Response Team (CERT) since 2008 and is presently an auxiliary member. He has lived in Malibu since 2000.
Stewart is the Chairman and CEO of Sierra Nevada Investment Management, LLC, which manages large format industrial properties in Southern California. His banking career spans over 40 years in senior positions with Sanwa Bank California, Security Pacific Corporation, and Maryland National Bank as well as serving as a banking consultant with The Secura Group. His banking experience has ranged from the early development of bank credit cards, business and corporate banking, to investment banking. For nine years, Stewart was the CAO and later the COO of ColorGraphics, Inc., at the time one of the largest commercial printing companies in the United States and based in Los Angeles. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Memphis and a Master of Arts in Management from the Claremont Graduate University, Drucker School of Management.
