Intermittent Closures for Construction Activities on Pacific Coast Highway

PCH AT CROSS CREEK ROAD AND WEBB WAY 

UPDATE - Additional work is scheduled at the intersections of PCH and Webb Way/Stuart Ranch Road and Civic Center Way beginning in mid-April which will include lane closures, with some work scheduled at night when possible. The work is for traffic improvements that will realign PCH to accommodate turn lanes, and update traffic signals, crosswalks, curb ramps and sidewalks in the Civic Center area.

Monday, April 16 8:00 PM - 6:00 AM - The PCH #1 lanes westbound and eastbound at Webb Way and Cross Creek will be closed.
Tuesday April 17, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM - Work will close shoulder and right turn pockets on Cross Creek and Webb Way at PCH, but no lane closures are expected.
Tuesday April 17, 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM -  #1 lanes westbound and eastbound of PCH will be closed at Cross Creek and Webb Way.  
Wednesday, April 18, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM -  Right turn pockets and shoulders will be closed at Cross Creek and at Webb Way, with no lane closures.

NIGHT TIME LANE CLOSURES FOR PCH PAVEMENT PRESERVATION PROJECT 

UPDATE - Monday, April 16 night time lane closures for PCH Pavement Project cancelled due to weather. 

April 16-20, 7:00 PM - 6:00 AM - Caltrans has scheduled lane closures for paving work as part of a pavement preservation project along sections of PCH in Malibu from Morning View Drive to Cross Creek Road. The lane closures take place Monday, April 16 through Friday, April 20, 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Caltrans contractors are conducting the work at night to reduce traffic impact. 

Socal Edison Maintenance Work - PCH Near Malibu Pier and Tuna Canyon

NEW - Thursday, April 19, 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM - The westbound #2 lane of PCH will be closed near Malibu Pier Thursday April 19 and Friday April 20, from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM for equipment maintenance. 

Friday, April 20, 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM - The eastbound #2 lane of PCH will be closed at Tuna Canyon on Thursday April 19 and Friday April 20, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM for equipment maintenance.

Motorists should prepare for closures as crews perform work along PCH

In advance of the moratorium on non-emergency construction lane closures between Memorial Day and Labor Day to alleviate summer-time traffic congestion, the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is working to complete several projects on Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). Caltrans and the City of Malibu remind residents to anticipate intermittent daytime and overnight lane closures along portions of PCH for construction activities. The following construction projects began earlier this month, and are expected to continue until Memorial Day:

PCH at Malibu Canyon 

Contractors are installing a new traffic signal pole and controller cabinet. Stop signs will be in place to allow traffic to pass through the four-way intersection of PCH and Malibu Canyon Road. Work is scheduled until the Memorial Day to Labor Day moratorium.

Escondido Slope Stabilization 

Caltrans is performing slope stabilization work during the day on both sides of PCH between Sea Vista Drive and Via Escondido Roadway. There are no lane closures, and cyclists will continue to have access through the construction zone. Due to this work, the speed limit on PCH is 30 MPH between Meadows Court and Latigo Canyon Road. Motorists are reminded that traffic fines are doubled in construction zones. The work began last summer, and is estimated to be completed in fall 2019.

All closures are weather permitting and subject to change. The City has requested that Caltrans conduct work requiring lane closures at night whenever possible to alleviate traffic disruptions. Some work cannot be conducted at night due to material deliveries. When necessary, the City will be sending Public Works crews out to help direct traffic, and has requested additional Sheriff’s Deputies to keep traffic flowing safely. Motorists should use caution when driving through work zones and allow extra time to reach their destination.

Motorists can check on road closures and traffic conditions using the Caltrans QuickMap at www.quickmap.dot.ca.gov, or by downloading the free QuickMap app on Google Play or the App Store.
