[ARCHIVED] Malibu's Dial-a-Ride Service Resumes Monday, August 6

Dial A Ride

The City will resume the Dial-A-Ride low-cost transit service for seniors starting on Monday, August 6. Dial-A-Ride provides a valuable, low-cost transit service to help Malibu residents 60 and older get to and from doctor appointments, grocery stores, the Senior Center and certain healthcare destinations outside the City. The fare is only $1 or $2 for trips inside the City or $4 for trips outside the City. The program was discontinued recently when the service provider ceased operation. The City put out a Request for Proposals (RFP) to find a new operator to continue the program. Ventura Transit System has been contracted on interim basis to ensure that the City can continue to provide the service while seeking a permanent contracted operator.

Reservations can be made for trips starting on Friday, August 3. Dial-A-Ride program hours are Monday through Wednesday, 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, and Thursday and Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Regularly scheduled shared ride services to healthcare facilities in Santa Monica, UCLA Westwood and West LA VA Hospital run every day at 8:30 AM and 10:30 AM, returning at 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM. To make a reservation call Ventura Transit System at 424-346-8444. For more information, call 310-456-2489, ext. 357.
