The City Council will hold a Special Meeting on Sunday, July 29, at 11:00 AM in order to adopt two resolutions related to the General Municipal Election of November 6, 2018.
Earlier this month, the City received notification that a citizen initiative related to the sale of and tax on cannabis for non-medicinal use had qualified for the November 6 election. The City Council set the election for a qualifying initiative at its July 9 meeting.
The City needs to add language to the ballot statement regarding the proposed tax. The City must submit all election material to the County Registrar in early August. Since the Council will not meet again prior to this deadline, a Special Meeting was scheduled to adopt resolutions to correct the language of the ballot statement for the initiative. No other actions related to the election will be taken at this meeting other than the correction of the ballot question.
The Sunday meeting date was selected due to Council travel and work schedules.
