[ARCHIVED] SCE to Present its Public Safety Power Shutoff Plan in City Council Meeting on Aug. 27

SCE Power Shutoff Plan

Southern California Edison (SCE) will present their Public Safety Power Shutoff Plan (PSPS) during the City Council meeting on Monday, August 27, 6:30 PM at City Hall. According to SCE, the PSPS plan is a practice where the utility may proactively shut off power in high fire risk areas to reduce the chances of fire during extreme and potentially dangerous fire conditions. Extreme fire conditions are conditions in which a fire (if ignited) would grow rapidly, burn intensely, and/or erratically. These conditions would include critical weather conditions such as low relative humidity, strong winds, and hot temperatures in combination with dry fuels. An overview of the plan is available to view online or print

The meeting will be broadcast live on Malibu City TV and on the City website and will be available to view the next day on-demand. The meeting will be announced widely.
