Posted on: October 30, 2019[ARCHIVED] New Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon (PHB) with crosswalk installed & activated on PCH near Rambla Vista
The new Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon (PHB) with a crosswalk has been installed and activated on PCH at 1/4 mile north of Rambla Vista in Malibu in order to improve safety for pedestrians and motorists. The PHB is used to warn fast-moving traffic about pedestrians crossing at a crosswalk without a traffic signal or intersection. The lights are dark until activated by a pedestrian. When activated, the signal shows flashing yellow, warning motorists to slow down, then steady yellow, then steady red as the pedestrian crosses. Once the pedestrian has finished crossing, the signal shows flashing red. Drivers may proceed if the crosswalk is clear.
