Cheech Marin to Speak at 2014 Malibu Library Speaker Series

(Malibu, CA) Cheech Marin, renowned comedian, actor, and author, will give the sixth lecture in the 2014 edition of the Malibu Library Speaker Series. Through funding set aside by the County of Los Angeles, the City of Malibu will host Marin in the Civic Theatre at Malibu City Hall (23825 Stuart Ranch Road) on Wednesday, June 4, at 7:00 PM.

Since Marin’s breakthrough as one half of the widely acclaimed comedic duo, Cheech and Chong, he has appeared in more than 50 films and television shows that include The Lion King, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Nash Bridges, Spy Kids, Tin Cup, and Cars.

Marin has directed films, appeared on numerous comedy record albums, authored children’s books, and has become a noted collector of Chicano Art. Marin directed the Broadway production Latinologues, a collection of comedic and poignant monologues revealing the Latino experience in America. Marin’s art collection exhibitions have toured throughout the United States and his most recent exhibition is booked at international venues through 2015.

Marin received an honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts for his contributions to the creative arts from Otis College of Art & Design in Los Angeles, and was honored with the inaugural Legacy Award for Arts Advocacy from the Smithsonian Latino Center. He was recognized by the American Latino Media Arts Awards for his contributions to music, television, and film in 2012.

Admission to the Speaker Series event is free. Reservations are required by calling 310-456-6438.
