The City is responsible for the pruning and maintenance of the City’s approximate 4,500 public trees. An urban forest is the public property of all residents, and is managed as a public resource. The Public Works Department oversees the Tree Maintenance Program for trees within the City’s public easement, which provides for the pruning and removal of trees in the public easement. This also includes parkway and shoulder areas (the space between the paved roadway and private property line) where most trees are located.
NOTE: Trees along Pacific Coast Highway (PCH), County roads or private streets are not maintained by City of Malibu.
